A long time ago, there was a kingdom in Java Island named Medang Kamulan. The kingdom was ruled by King Dewata Cengkar who was very cruel and evil. Every day the king ate one human brought by Patih Jugul Muda, the prime minister. Some of the restless feared people fled silently to outer kingdom.

In Medang Kawit village there was a young man named Aji Saka. He was kind, diligent, and had supernatural power. One day, Aji Saka helped an old man who was beaten by two robbers. The old man who then adopted Aji Saka as his son was one of the refugees from Medang Kamulan Kingdom. He told Aji Saka why he left his home.

After he heard the story about the cruelty of Prabu Dewata Cengkar, Aji Saka was very angry and intended to help the people of Medang Kamulan Kingdom. After putting his head band on, Aji Saka left for Medang Kamulan.

The trip to Medang Kamulan was not as smooth as ecpected. In the forest, Aji Saka fought the devil of the forest for seven days and seven nights after Aji Saka refused to be the slave of the devil for ten years before he could pass the forest. But owing to his supernatural powers, Aji Saka successfully avoided the flame of the devil. A bundle of yellow rays shone from sky after Aji Saka prayed. It bashed the devil and at the same time destroying him.

Aji Saka finally arrived in quiet Medang Kamulan Kingdom. In the palace, Prabu Dewata Cengkar was very angry because Patih Jugul Muda did not bring sacrifice to him. Bravely, Aji Saka appeared before Prabu Dewata Cengkar and surrendered to be eaten by him on one condition. Prabu Dewata Cengkar must give him up his kingdom land at the size of his head band length before Prabu Dewata Cengkar eat him.

When they were measuring the land as Aji Saka request, the head band kept on rolling so as the size of the rolling head band exceeded the area of the Medang Kamulan Kingdom. Prabu Dewata Cengkar was so angry after realizing the intention of Aji Saka that actually was to end his tyranny. When Prabu Dewata Cengkar was angry, Aji Saka threw his head band and coiled around strong on the body of Prabu Dewata Cengkar. With his power, Aji Saka threw the king to south sea and lost swallowed by the wave.

Aji Saka then crowned to be the king of Medang Kamulan. He asked his father to stay in the palace. Aji Saka ruled the kingdom with his wisdom and fairness to deliver Medang Kamulan Kingdom to the golden era, the time where the people lived in peaceful and prosperous.
